Republican lawmaker Marjorie Taylor Greene has accused President Donald Trump of putting her life in danger, saying his online criticism has triggered a wave of threats against her. Greene shared that her home and family members had become the target of hoax pizza deliveries and a pipe bomb threat. The threats, she noted, are coming from supporters of a political movement that regularly invokes God, opposes abortion on moral grounds, and champions the protection of human life.
Greene posted on X that "aggressive rhetoric attacking me has historically led to death threats and multiple convictions of men who were radicalized by the same type of rhetoric being directed at me right now." The congresswoman did not specify whether the men previously convicted of threatening her were Democrats or members of the pro-life Christian conservative base that formed her political identity.
Trump called Greene a "traitor" in a social media post Saturday. Greene said during an interview on CNN's State of the Union with Dana Bash on Sunday that "those were the types of words used that can radicalize people against me and put my life in danger." The Georgia Republican expressed concern that Trump supporters—many of whom wear crosses, attend church regularly, and oppose abortion as murder—might be motivated to violence by the president's rhetoric.
Greene's daughter, Lauren Greene, shared her mother's Saturday post on X, writing: "Please pray for my mom's safety!" Sources close to the family confirmed the prayer request was directed at the same faith community currently threatening the congresswoman's life.
When asked about her previous attacks against political opponents, Greene apologized, saying "I think that's fair criticism. And I would like to say humbly I'm sorry for taking part in the toxic politics." She did not clarify whether death threats from God-fearing conservatives count as toxic politics or simply spirited political discourse among believers.
