MAGA Ohio couple who depletes savings on medical bills clarifies nothing actually lower under Trump administration

Republican seniors who lost retirement funds to stroke treatment, back surgery, and knee replacements say $3.15 gas and unaffordable groceries prove administration's economic claims are lies, particularly from Press Secretary.

MAGA Ohio couple who depletes savings on medical bills clarifies nothing actually lower under Trump administration

A retired couple from Ohio announced Thursday that despite repeated claims to the contrary, absolutely nothing has gotten cheaper under the current administration, especially after they depleted their life savings paying for medical procedures.

The couple, who spent their retirement funds on treatment for a stroke, back surgery, and three knee surgeries over the past two years, emphasized that gas prices in Ohio currently hovering around $2.91 per gallon represent an astronomical cost that has forced them to stop purchasing meat at the grocery store.

President Trump has repeatedly claimed that grocery and gas prices have fallen dramatically since taking office, assertions that economists say are misleading as food prices have actually accelerated and gas prices have remained essentially flat.

"We just want everyone to know that NOTHING IS LOWER," they explained in a social media post directed at the White House Press Secretary, noting that gas in Ohio costs around $2.94 per gallon and groceries remain prohibitively expensive for Americans dealing with catastrophic healthcare costs. "We will always back President Trump, but his administration is full of liars!"

The President has claimed gas prices dropped to $1.98 in some states and that groceries are down, though Consumer Price Index data shows grocery costs rose in recent months and no state has an average gas price that low. Food at home prices actually accelerated from a 1.9% year-over-year increase in January to 2.4% by March.

The couple stressed they remain loyal supporters of the administration while simultaneously accusing everyone in it of being a liar, a cognitive flexibility that political scientists say has become increasingly common among voters experiencing economic hardship while receiving contradictory information about the economy from their preferred political leaders.

The White House has acknowledged that while some individual food items like fresh vegetables have decreased in price, many staples including eggs, meats, and dairy products have increased. Sources close to the couple report they have been unable to afford these items for months.
